Ernst W. Nickel, our co-founder and partner, was graduated from Robert Morris College and has practiced as a CPA for over thirty years. Ernie is a former board member of the YMCA of Penn Hills and has served on a variety of policy committees for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Katherine Nickel McFaden, a partner, received her M. S. in Accounting with a concentration in Tax and her B. S. in Commerce with majors in Accounting, Finance and Management from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. While at Virginia, Kathy was a graduate teaching assistant in accounting and a graduate research assistant in finance. Kathy, a CPA since 1989, came to Nickel, Beisel & Company from a "Big Five" accounting firm. Her credits include an article that was published in The S Corporation Journal. Kathy is a past president of the Virginia Club of Pittsburgh, and is the current Chairman of the Regional Selection Committee for the University of Virginia's Jefferson Scholars program. Kathy is a volunteer advisor of small business owners for PowerLink. She is currently on the board of directors and has served as president, vice-president and treasurer for PowerLink. Kathy has also spoken at various seminars on year end tax planning for individuals and businesses, business entities and computer applications.
Gregory R. McFaden, majored in accounting at Robert Morris College and the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. Greg, a CPA since 1990, has over 10 years of experience with a "Big Five" accounting firm. Greg was the winner of the Alexander E. Loeb Silver Medal for placing second in the state on the November 1988 CPA exam. Greg's areas of specialty include insurance, manufacturing and oil and gas.
